I. SERVER - HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
  • This is a guide to the hardware requirements for e-PAS' server
  • It is recommended that clients always liaise with Global Health prior to purchasing e-PAS hardware and software.
  • Larger sites may require dedicated Application and Database servers.

Up to 10 simultaneous users
  • Intel Dual Core CPU
    1GB RAM
  • 60GB Redundant Storage - SATA RAID (eg 2 x 60GB drives) or SCSI RAID 5 (eg 3 x 36GB drives)

  • Ethernet Network Interface
  • DVD Writer
  • Backup Device - eg DDS4 Tape drive
  • UPS to suit
  • Brand name server with maintenance
  • Latest Intel Server CPU (eg Xeon, Itanium)
  • 2GB RAM
  • 72GB Redundant SCSI Storage - SCSI RAID 5 (eg 3 x 36GB 10K RPM drives)
  • Gigabit Network Interface
    DVD Writer
    Backup Device - eg DDS4 Tape drive
  • UPS to suit

MEDIUM SITE
Up to 30 simultaneous users
  • Intel Dual Core CPU
    2GB RAM
    72GB Redundant SCSI Storage:
  • SCSI RAID 5 (eg 3 x 36GB drives)

  • Gigabit Network Interface

  • DVD Writer
  • Backup Device - eg DDS4 Tape drive
  • UPS to suit
  • Brand name server with maintenance
  • Latest Intel Server CPU (eg Xeon, Itanium)
  • 4GB RAM
    72GB Redundant SCSI Storage - SCSI RAID 5 (eg 3 x 36GB 10K RPM drives)
  • Dual Gigabit Network Interface
  • DVD Writer
  • Backup Device - eg DDS4 Tape drive

LARGE SITE
More than 30 simultaneous users
  • Requires individual design and requirements

II. SERVER - SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

e-PAS is a client/server Java application that requires the following components:

  1. Microsoft Windows Server 2000 or 2003
    • e-PAS requires a pure 32-bit installation of Windows Server
    • Windows Server 2003 is recommended

  2. Microsoft SQL Server 2000
    • SQL Service Pack 3 is required
    • SQL Server 2005 is not currently supported

  3. Macromedia JRUN4
    • JRUN is licensed on a per-CPU basis
    • Suggested Australian vendor: Harris Technologies
    • Up to one month lead time is required to purchase JRUN

  4. 3M Grouper and/or 3M Codefinder
    • Enables e-PAS to capture episode Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) codes
    • Vendor: 3M
  • Please contact the relevant vendors for licensing requirements.
  • e-PAS server and client components run under Sun's Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.3.1.
  • Later JRE versions are not supported.
  • Microsoft Small Business Server is not currently supported.
III. WORKSTATIONS - REQUIREMENTS
  1. Windows 2000, XP or Vista (32-bit only)
  2. Pentium 4 2GHz / Intel Dual Core / AMD Dual Core CPU or higher
  3. 512MB RAM or higher
  4. 1024x768 resolution or higher
  5. Gigabit network interface recommended
IV. NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE
  1. A network infrastructure capable of running at gigabit speeds is recommended (eg gigabit switches and CAT5-e)
  2. Where the workstations are separated from the server by a WAN/VPN, a minimum 2M symmetrical connection is required
  3. Internet connection with a static IP address for remote support is required (Remote Desktop / Terminal Services over a VPN is recommended)
