Global Health Limited (GLH) are pleased to announce the rollout of the Company’s ReferralNet platform for secure messaging between Specialists and GPs across the General Practice Association of Geelong (GPAG) region.
The Geelong E-Communication Program will enable specialists to send correspondence letters electronically to GPs. It will also allow GPs to electronically send referrals securely and directly to specialists.
A key pre-requisite was the seamless integration that was achieved with a range of clinical EMRs used by GPs and Specialists in the region including Medical Director, Best Practice, Genie, Mediflex, Houston and ZedMed.
Many Specialists operate without a clinical EMR and use a ReferralNet plug-in that integrates within the popular Microsoft Word application.
For those vendors seeking a richer client experience, GLH have provided Web Services allowing clinical EMR vendors to better orchestrate the use of ReferralNet within their workflow.
Similarly, for Apple MacIntosh users, a ReferralNet client application for the MacIntosh operating system is also available.
The Geelong E-Communication Program will reduce time and errors from manually re-keying of information as the data is auto-populated from one EMR to the other through message level integration.
In the initial phase which commenced this month, over 300 GPs have been deployed with ReferralNet and have commenced secure electronic communications with 40 practitioners across 18 Specialities and diagnostic services.
The next phase of the E-Communication Program is planned to extend secure messaging between GPs and hospitals.
CEO of the GP Association of Geelong, Jason Trethowan said “The Division has allocatedresources to make this implementation a reality. Almost 100% of GPs have been set up toreceive electronic correspondence from Specialists and other providers. Our approach hasbeen to work in the Specialist rooms and assist them in their change process to send theirletters via ReferralNet.”
According to GLH CEO Mathew Cherian, “ReferralNet has been evolving over some years and is now getting good market traction. The Geelong E-Communication Program provides an opportunity to showcase the unique strengths of the ReferralNet platform. Ultimately, our goal is to make it easier for more healthcare providers to collaborate in a secure manner anddeliver workflow efficiencies that they value”.
