Global Health is pleased to advise that the volume of referrals and progress notes delivered electronically through its ReferralNet Secure Message Delivery platform experienced a seven-fold increase over the 12 months to December 2010. Over the same period our subscriber network more than doubled.
The secure electronic exchange of health information by healthcare providers is core to the government’s objective of providing a Personally Controlled Electronic Health Record (PCEHR) for all Australians by July 2012.
The trigger for changing from paper-based to secure electronic messaging developed momentum in November 2009 following the introduction of financial incentives to GPs by the Government to facilitate the national e-health agenda.
ReferralNet is experiencing marked market interest due to the demonstrable success achieved across the initial regions that have implemented ReferralNet. Key features of ReferralNet’s success are the minimal workflow changes and seamless inter-connectivity achieved between ReferralNet and a wide range of 3rd party applications - including those commonly used by GPs and also the majority of software products that support the acute, allied health and community health segments of healthcare.
ReferralNet deals unobtrusively with the lack of standardization that currently exists – there are 100s of software applications used across the sector, each with varying sophistication in their ability to support standard message formats and protocols.
The continuing success of ReferralNet is very encouraging especially since the use of electronic healthcare referrals is at a very early stage with the bulk of communications still based on fax and mail. Consequently the message volumes and subscription growth rates are forecast to continue into the foreseeable future as e-health gains momentum.
Revenue from ReferralNet is derived from a combination of subscription and volume plans.
